Originally this was posted in German on my hofkoh.de site, since I lived there for 5 years. But after 9 years in Saigon, and for 8 years mainly communicating in English and Vietnamese I think it is time to change. The documentation is copied over to blog.saiht.de and continues in English now.
On the About me page I wrote about the 3 locations I worked here in Saigon, and the place I will study until summer 2029. So I’ll list the 5 places I lived in Saigon in this category:
- B17-8 Lexington Residence, Mai Chi Tho, Q2
- 9E 7-9, Sky Garden 3, Q7
- C17-8 Park Residence, Nha Be
- 40 Noi Khu Hung Phuoc 1, 2-2, Phu My Hung
- Hung Vuong 1, Tân Phong
I started out with a rented bike on day 1 in Saigon, August 4th, 2016 (Ankunft Ho Chi Minh City). My Sym Atilla changed to a Yamaha Nuovo 4 for rent, but becomes to expensive if you continue renting it. So I got a Yamaha Nouvo 3 and used it from 2017 to 2020, when I changed to my Yamaha NVX. With the latter one I finally could travel all the way up to Hanoi and Lung Cu on the Ha Giang loop. By November 2025 I’ve done this trip twice!
Now heading into my 10th year in Asia it’s time to update some of my documentation. Usually Sabbaticals are a good time, or being a student.
This was the short German text from 2016:
Saigon HCMC – 2016
